                              HOUSE BILL NO. 231, As Amended

                                  BY BUSINESS COMMITTEE

 1                                        AN ACT
 2    RELATING TO MOTOR VEHICLES; AMENDING SECTION 49-959, IDAHO CODE,  TO  PROHIBIT
 3        ANY REFRIGERANT IN MOTOR VEHICLE AIR-CONDITIONING EQUIPMENT WHICH IS FLAM-
 4        MABLE AT OR BELOW ONE THOUSAND DEGREES FAHRENHEIT.

 5    Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Idaho:

 6        SECTION  1.  That  Section  49-959, Idaho Code, be, and the same is hereby
 7    amended to read as follows:

 8        49-959.  AIR-CONDITIONING EQUIPMENT. (1) Air-conditioning equipment  shall
 9    be  manufactured,  installed  and maintained with due regard for the safety of
10    the occupants of the  vehicle  and  the  public  and  shall  not  contain  any
11    refrigerant  which is toxic to persons or which is flammable  at or below
12    one thousand degrees (1000<) Fahrenheit .
13        (2)  No person shall have for sale, offer for  sale,  sell  or  equip  any
14    motor  vehicle with any air-conditioning equipment unless it complies with the
15    requirements of this section.
16        (3)  No person shall operate on any highway  any  motor  vehicle  equipped
17    with  any  air-conditioning  equipment  unless the equipment complies with the
18    requirements of this section.
